The Food and Nutrition syllabus equips learners with skills in meal management, nutrition
health, and food value addition, emphasising the use of locally available materials to create
products that support import substitution and everyday use. The syllabus fosters the
development of Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) such as inquiry, creativity, innovation,
decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving through learner-centred pedagogies
and hands-on experiences in real-life situations. It recognises diverse learner abilities and styles,
promoting inclusive participation of all groups, including learners with special needs, girls, and
boys, while recognising diverse learning abilities and styles.
